Dental Implants

Comprehensive Dental Care For The Whole Family

Implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Implants are changing the way people live; rediscovering the confidence and comfort to eat, speak, laugh, and enjoy life.

When you lose several teeth – whether this is new or something you have lived with for years, you have likely never become accustomed to losing a vital part of yourself. Patients regain the ability to eat just about anything and can smile with confidence as teeth appear very natural and facial contours will be preserved.

The implants are tiny titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing.

For the first 3-6 months following surgery, the implants are beneath the surface of the gums, gradually bonding with the jawbone. During this time you will have temporary tooth/teeth, and follow a soft diet for a short period of time.

Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.

After the implant has bonded to the bone they are uncovered and small posts that protrude through the gums are placed (abutment). The permanent implant crown is fabricated and then placed onto this abutment. Once this implant crown is placed the posts (abutments) are not seen.

Dr. Mabry and Dr. McCary provide the final restoration on implants for their patients (placing the abutment and implant crown). Dr. Akhrass is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and provides the surgery to prep the implant site, place the implant itself, as well as the final restoration for his patients. All of this is done in our office for your convenience.

Drs Mabry, Akhrass, and McCary are extensively trained in implant restorations.

Please call our office soon for an exam and to discuss how implants may improve your daily life. Once implants are placed, they should serve you well for many years to come. It is important to properly care for them with regular brushing and flossing, and keeping regular appointments for cleaning and monitoring your oral hygiene.

Single implants: This is a single prosthetic crown used to replace one missing tooth.

Partial Prosthesis: (fixed bridge) used to replace two or more teeth and may require the placement of 2 – 3 implants.

Complete Dental Prosthesis: (denture) Replaces all teeth in your upper or lower jaw on the same day as implant placement. The number of implants will vary depending upon which type of complete prosthesis (removable or fixed) is recommended for you.
